About VJT

Vidya Jyothi Trust (VJT) is established with the main objective of development of social, educational and intellectual level of the youth. The Trust also aims to develop new institutions for imparting higher education. The Vidya Jyothi Trust (VJT) set up by Shri. N Sugalchand Jain, has taken over the various schools run till recently by the Jadavbai Nathmal Singhvi Trust formed in 1984.

Education is always responsible to bring paradigm shift which is also the law of nature as the change is inevitable & is the backbone of growth & development. Keeping this ethos in mind the Trustees of Vidya Jyothi Trust, Chennai took up the task of establishing engineering college in the area where no Institute of technical education has ever thought to venture.


In pursuance of upliftment of education, the trust manages number of Institutions including School and Engineering Colleges having strength of students more than 2500 and 200+ staffs. The Schools and Colleges run by Vidya Jyothi Trust (VJT) are recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu & Government of Rajasthan.


At present, there are 3 schools - 2 Nursery & Primary Schools and 1 Matriculation Higher Secondary School. The schools have well equipped infrastructure in terms of Land and Building, Science Laboratory, Library, Computer Lab, Indoor Playground and Auditorium. The schools emphasize on the holistic development of the students by providing extracurricular activities like Abacus, Bharathanatyam, Table Tennis, ACC, NCC, Guides, Scouts and Junior Red Cross. The students are also encouraged to volunteer for the Road Safety Patrol, to visit Orphanages & rural Hospitals and participate in various competitions regularly.


In continuation to fulfill the objective of the trust, the Vidya Jyothi Trust (VJT) has recently established this engineering college - Mahaveer Institute of Technology and Science (MITS) at Jadan in Pali district of Rajasthan.


Vidya Jyothi Trust (VJT) is a Philanthropic Trust whose members include well-known Industrialists, Businessmen, Professionals and Educationists. The people associated with the Trust are engaged in rendering social services in Delhi, Chennai, Rajasthan & other part of the country by establishing hospitals and educational institutions. The members of the society are committed to provide the investment needed for the education with global competitiveness. No compromise is made in ensuring the high quality of engineering education in the Institute.


Through the technical programmes and advanced laboratories, not only technical skills are being sharpened as required by the wide spread impact of Information Technology, but also a conscious foundation is being laid to educate and nurture the qualities of good citizenship to uphold those social and moral values.


Various Institutions & Trusts Associated With VJT

The Trustees and the Trust are also running various institutions of International and National repute and the management also deals with various ventures under various trusts. Some of them are as follows:

  • Ganadipathy Tulsi's Jain Engineering College (GTEC) is a World Class Technical Institution and aims to achieve global identity through its innovative methods and strenuous efforts for the betterment of the students community. GTEC is a co-educational institution and was started in the year 2000-2001. GTEC offers Under Graduate and Post Graduate programmes. The campus is located 15 Kms from Katpadi Railway Station and 12 Kms from Vellore City towards Thiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, India.
  • Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation was established by Shri N Sugalchand Jain in 1994 to identify, encourage and honour the individuals and institutions who are doing selfless service for the welfare of the underprivileged and the weak in our society. With a view to focus public attention on the activities of these altruistic persons and encourage others to emulate them and take up community and social services, the Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation has instituted the Mahaveer Awards which is given every year. The awards are given for excellence in human endeavour in the fields of Non-Violence & Vegetarianism, Education, Medicine and Community & Social Service. The awards carry a cash component of Rs. 10 Lakhs each with a memento and a citation.
  • Singhvi Charitable Trust Echoing Bhagwan Mahaveer’s universal philosophy of “Live and Let Live”, the Singhvi Charitable Trust was established in 1974. It fulfils the desire to help the deserving and assist the underprivileged of our society. The Trust embarks upon socially significant activities and tackles the current problems of the underprivileged through its activities with special focus on health care.
  • Jains India Trust as a Religious Charitable Trust, has been established by Shri N. Sugalchand Jain, renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist to propagate Jainism, especially, the way of life, philosophy literature, architecture etc. Sri Jain believes that the members of the Jain community have the potential to contribute a great deal to the growth of the nation and the world and should be provided the opportunity to do so irrespective of their economic status. As a part of this all encompassing cause, the Trust will also reach out to all sects of the Jain community, especially the poor, needly and the uncared for fringes.
