The first year department offers basic knowledge of physics, chemistry, english, mathemetics, computers and electronics, problem solving skills and laboratory skills useful both in graduate work and in industry and business, and is also actively engaged in research.
The Chemistry department is one of the supporting departments for the major engineering branches of the college. The courses include Engineering Chemistry (theory & practical) for classes of 1st and 2nd semester engineering. The distinguishing feature of the department is its modern laboratory housed with latest digital instruments such as pH meters, conductivity meters, colorimeters, flame photometer, spectro photo meter, flash and fire point apparatus etc. These methods are very useful in the analysis of samples in the industry.
The English department has been pursuing a vigorous programme to improve the communication and writing skill of students in all engineering streams. Skill sessions are conducted regularly where students are encouraged to speak so that their weaknesses can be identified and corrected in time. College also has facility of vision net which is a software which improves English of students by the aid of listening.
It offers subjects for first year as well as for other streams of engineering. Objective of this department is to enhance the mathematical skills and also gives emphasis on aptitude and reasoning skills of students.
